OLA MONSSON VAGSET took over his father's farm at Vagsaeter on 12 Oct 1756. On 9 May 1759 he obtained a certificate of tenancy from the owner Ludvig Daae (see 66).
OLA inherited his father's farm (and the farm stayed with direct descendents until the 1920's at least). He married (1791) Marta Hognesdtr Verkland (b 1769) from Brekke. They had 11 children of which 4 died young. Marta died 30 Nov 1840.
MARTA (the elder) married (1786) Sjur Pedersen Andvik (b 1758) and went to live at Andvik. They had 9 children of which at least 4 died young. When she died Sjur married again and had 2 more children. He died in 1814.
KARI married (1790) Rasmus Hogneson Hosteland (see 128), a 61-year-old widower. They had twin boys but both died in infancy. After Rasmus died (1794) Kari married (1795) Hans Erikson from Sondre Hope (b 1772) and had 6 more children, one of whom (Dordi) married Jonas Daae (see 33). Hans died in 1822. Kari lived for another 30 years, but whether at Hosteland or no is not clear as the farm had passed into unrelated hands.
MONS married (1798) Johanna Johannesdtr Verkland. They appear to have lived at Andvik with his sister Brita (see below) for a time, then at Halsvik. They had 3 children.
BRITA married (1819) Jon Erikson, born (1767) at Mjanger but previously married (2 Nov 1800) to Gjertrud Ivarsdtr and living at Andvik. Jon and Gjertrud had had 6 children and Gjertrud had died earlier in 1819. Jon and Brita had no children. Jon died 20 March 1847, and the farm passed to Brita's stepson Knut.
ANNA married (1817) Mathias Larsson Toftlandsdal and lived at Kaland in Lindaas.
GURI married Anders Monsson of Saude in Gulen.
